Lindenhurst, NY - February 1, 2018 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a woman who robbed a Lindenhurst, New York convenience store on Wednesday, January 31 and in October 2017.
On January 31, 2018, a woman entered The Barn, located at 691 Wellwood Ave., pointed a knife at an employee and demanded cash. The robber then opened the register, took proceeds from the drawer and fled on foot southbound on Straight Path.
Officers from the Aviation Section and Canine Section responded. Canine Section Officer Sacco and his partner Bosco tracked the suspect to an area near 52nd Street in Lindenhurst. After a thorough canvas of the area, First Squad detectives and First Precinct Patrol officers located the robber, Leana Anderson, at her home, located in Lindenhurst. She was brought to the First Precinct, located at 555 Route 109 West Babylon where she was arrested at approximately 1 p.m.
Further investigation revealed Anderson was also responsible for a knifepoint robbery that occurred at the same convenience store on October 20, 2017. Detectives charged Anderson, 28, with two counts of Robbery 1st Degree.
Anderson will be held at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on February 1.
