On January 30, 2025, Suffolk County Sheriff Dr. Errol D. Toulon Jr. hosted an Interfaith Council meeting at the True Noth Community Church in Bohemia. Sheriff Toulon spoke about updates at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, including the new “Reentry and Family Resource Center” located in both facilities’ visiting areas, as well as informed attendees what they could do to help. The meeting’s guest speaker was Trish Hughes-Hale who discussed the “I Am My Sister’s Keeper” Program, which aids in bringing women together to empower and uplift one another, fostering a supportive community.
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office Interfaith Council’s mission is to be a resource of faith-based organizations that can provide resources and services to current and formerly incarcerated individuals and their families as well as to the Sheriff’s Office staff. Organizations can get involved by providing support through programs and services (counseling, therapy, parenting classes, recovery programs, etc.). They also work to support the Sheriff’s Transition and Reentry Team (START) Resource Center with assisting the reentry of incarcerated individuals back into the community (transportation, housing, food, clothing, job placement, etc.).
