AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Service Normal on NYC Subway, LIRR, Harlem and Hudson Lines; Hourly Service to Operate on the New Haven Line.

New York, NY - February 5, 2014 - This afternoon, the New York City Subway, the Long Island Rail Road, and Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem Line and Hudson Line will operate on regular schedules. New York City Buses will operate at 85% to 90% of usual strength.
 
On the New Haven Line, where ice accumulation has caused problems with overhead catenary wires, Metro-North will shift to hourly service between noon and 4 p.m. Four eastbound trains and four westbound trains will be canceled. 
 
Grand Central-bound trains making all local stops from New Haven to Stamford will depart from New Haven at :46 minutes past the hour . Grand Central-bound trains making all local stops from Stamford to Grand Central will depart Stamford at the top of the hour. 
 
New Haven-bound trains will depart Grand Central at :08 minutes past the hour. These trains will operate express to Stamford, then make all local stops to New Haven. Stamford-bound trains making all local stops will depart Grand Central at :34 minutes past the hour.
