AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to locate a man who assaulted another man at a Port Jefferson bar the night before Thanksgiving.

Port Jefferson, NY - February 5th, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to locate a man who assaulted another man at a Port Jefferson bar the night before Thanksgiving. 
 
A 43-year-old St. James man was assaulted by another man at Tara’s Inn, located at 1519 Main St., on November 28, at approximately 2:30 a.m. The man suffered a broken leg and was treated at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson.
 
The suspect was described as white, approximately 6 feet tall with blond/light brown hair.  He wore a tan coat and may have had a mustache.
 
Officers are looking to speak to witnesses to the altercation.
