Winter Storm Lexi Snow Totals - Lexi Transforms LI into Winter Wonderland in Time for the Weekend

Winter Storm Lexi, which went from nothing to worry about to a storm that prompted dozens of districts to cancel classes for the day has left LI with a fresh coat of snow.

Winter Storm Lexi took Long Islanders by surprise this morning, leaving half a foot of snow in many areas throught Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Although forecasts earlier this week had predicted some snowfall for Friday, it wasn't until Thursday evening that a Winter Weather Advisory was issued for the Island, and subsequently raised to a Winter Weather Warning for Suffolk County late Thursday evening.

According to official reports, Nassau County, Bethpage received over 11.5 inches of snow as of 1:10 PM, and in Suffolk, Saint James topped the list with 11.9 inches total as of 1:10 PM, athough we have received unofficial reports from readers of up to 9 inches of snowfall in areas across Suffolk County.

Nearby in Manhattan's Central Park, 2.5 inches of snowfall was recorded, in Queens totals of .1.7 0 4.6  inches, and in Brooklyn, they received approximately 4.5 inches of snow.
