AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. North Baldwin Man Accused of Driving Drunk with Child in Vehicle, Officials Report

Phillip O. Flowers, 36, was driving in East Garden City with a 15 year-old male when he was pulled over by police and placed under arrest for DWI, cops say.

East Garden City, NY - February 6, 2018 - The Nassau County Police report the arrest of a North Baldwin man for Driving While Intoxicated which occurred in East Garden City on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 1:54 A.M.
 
According to police, the defendant Phillip O. Flowers, 36, of North Baldwin was driving a 2014 white Nissan Maxima southbound at a high rate of speed on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in the vicinity of the Northern state Parkway with a 15 year old male passenger in the vehicle. A car stop was conducted and an investigation revealed the defendant was operating under the influence of alcohol. The 15 year old child was released to the custody of a family member. 
 
The defendant is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated under the Leandra Law, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated and several Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was arraigned on February 4, 2018 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
