Man Resists Arrest After Attempting to Use Counterfeit ID at Levittown Business, Cops Say
Levittown, NY - February 13, 2019 - Second Squad detectives report the arrest of a Queens man for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 4:15 pm in Levittown.
According to detectives, Deshawn Webster, 24, entered PC Richard’s, 2999 Hempstead Turnpike and presented a counterfeit New Jersey Driver’s License to a sales associate in an attempt to make a purchase with an associated store account in the amount of $2249.00. The employee then discovered the account had been involved with fraudulent activity earlier in the day with the same individual at a PC Richard’s in Greenvale. The police were then contacted.
When the responding officer questioned Webster he tried to flee the scene and a struggle ensued. The officer continued to instruct the defendant to stop resisting while attempting to place him in custody. At this time the store manager helped assist the officer and the defendant was subdued and placed under arrest.
During the struggle, the officer suffered from a dislocated thumb, bite to his right hand, and significant pain to his right shoulder and knee. The manager of PC Richard’s also had substantial pain, suffering injuries to his left and right knees, rear of his neck, and lower back area. The police officer and store manager were transported to a local hospital for their sustaining injuries.
While Webster was in custody, detectives did find the defendant to be in possession of a fraudulent bank card.
Webster is charged with Assault 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of Personal ID 3rd Degree, Attempted Grand Larceny 4th Degree, and Assault 2nd. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on February 13, 2019.
