ELEVATED RISK FOR FIRE SPREAD SATURDAY The combination of low relative humidity values near 30 percent and northwest winds gusting 30 to 35 mph will create an elevated risk for fire spread across the region on Saturday. Exercise caution handling any potential ignition sources, including machinery, cigarettes, and matches. Any fires that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly. This forecast considered meteorological, fuel, and land conditions, and has been developed in coordination with NY, NJ, and CT fire and land management officials.

One very fortunate Long Islander is probably planning a fancy vacation or contemplating new living room furniture this evening, as they have found themselves $50,000 richer after scoring a winning New York lottery ticket.
 
A Powerball ticket, purchased at Waverly Express Mart at 1106 Waverly Avenue in Holtsville, was announced as the third-place winner in this past weekend's drawing, according to New York State Lottery officials.
 
In addition, two other third-place Powerball tickets were sold in New York State; one in Somers in Westchester County, and another one in Manhattan.
