The LI Nets’ Black History Month game is the culmination of a series of community events the team will participate in during February. On Thursday, Feb. 1, Long Island Nets guard Kyler Edwards participated in a leadership discussion with Men of Elmont, an after-school program at Elmont Memorial High School aimed teaching young men of color core leadership values and preparing for their futures post-graduation. On Tuesday, Feb. 20, Jackie Wilson, II, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer at BSE Global will participate in a virtual panel discussion for local college students in partnership with Adelphi University. The conversation will focus on Wilson’s career and educational journey.
On Friday, Feb. 23, the Nets will host a career in sports workshop at Nassau Coliseum in collaboration with Erase Racism, a Long Island organization that works to expose and address the impact of historic and structural racism on Long Island through advocacy, policy development and education.
