The HCARE graduates were recognized with a special ceremonial white coat and a certificate acknowledging their accomplishments.
During the HCARE Summer Program, students benefited from an array of academic tools for success including learning styles, study skills, organizational skills such as time and stress management, as well as goal-setting, according to Erik Flynn, clinical lecturer with the Stony Brook University School of Health Technology and Management. Additionally, students were introduced to several health care professions by Stony Brook University faculty as well as other STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) career professionals. Notably, this past year, presentations provided students with an increased awareness of topics related to careers in physical therapy, forensics, clinical laboratory science, occupational therapy and microbiology.
