Heating Oil Truck Catches Fire in Massapequa

An oil truck burst into flames late Sunday morning.

Massapequa, NY - Februay 16, 2014 - The Public Information Office reports the details of a Truck Fire that occurred on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 10:38 AM in Massapequa.
 
According to police, a 30 year old male victim was driving a home heating oil truck westbound Merrick Road when he heard a loud bang.  The victim looked in his rearview mirror and observed flames coming from the rear of the truck.  Massapequa Fire Department, Seventh Precinct and Emergency Services Unit responded to the scene.  St. Rose of Lima Church, Grace Church and several homes were evacuated.  Nassau County Fire Marshal also at scene and is investigating.
