Update: Central Islip, NY - March 10, 2015 - The Suffolk County SPCA is looking for a person or rescue group to adopt or foster the Pit Bull found as mentioned below. The dog needs a person with a strong personality, and no other pets.
The dog, named "Rocky", does not get along with other animals and has an aggressive personality. It is not clear whether the dog was like this prior to his injuries or it is the result of its neurological injuries.
Central Islip, NY - February 17, 2015 - The Suffolk County SPCA is seeking information from the public and offering a $2,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for leaving a dog in the middle of the road last night.
Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA said that the dog, a Pit Bull was found in the roadway at Rt. 111 and Sage St., Central Islip. Gross said that the dog had a strangulating cable tied around its neck. A plastic bloody bag was also found nearby the dog.
Gross said the dog was taken to Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island in West Islip and Veterinarians there determined that the dog had been strangled, beaten, and has some neurological damage.
