Mineola, NY - February 17th, 2016 - Randi Shubin Dresner, president and CEO of Island Harvest Food Bank today released the following statement on the passing of longtime supporter and Chairman Emeritus, Monsignor Thomas Hartman.
“All of us at Island Harvest mourn the loss of our Chairman Emeritus and good friend Monsignor Thomas Hartman. Father Tom was instrumental in helping Island Harvest grow and expand our outreach to help people in need.
He believed that no one should go hungry knowing there was excess food on Long Island, and around the country. In our earliest days as our Chairman, he coined the phrase, ‘Island Harvest is the bridge between those who have surplus food and those who need it,’ and nobody championed our organization and its mission better than he. Long Island is a better place, and we’re better people because of his caring, compassion and dedication to improving the human condition. He taught us so much, and he will be missed by so many who knew and loved him.”
