AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Senator LaValle Requests Nominations For Veteran’s Hall Of Fame.

New York, NY - February 19, 2014 - Senator Ken LaValle is requesting nominations for induction into the NY State Senate Veteran’s Hall of Fame.  The Hall of Fame is designed to pay tribute to the men and women of New York who selflessly served in the U.S. Armed Forces.  Senator LaValle said, “Each year, we take this opportunity to recognize the distinguished service of one of our notable men or women, who so admirably gave to our country.  We are fortunate to have so many potential nominees in my Senate District for inclusion in the Hall.  I hope everyone who knows one of these special veterans submits a nomination.”
 
The 2014 Veteran’s Hall of Fame Celebration will be held on Tuesday, May 20th in Albany.  The inductees will be displayed online for all NY State residents to witness.  In order to nominate someone for the Hall of Fame, visit www.SenatorLaValle.com and download the application. The information needed will be a biography; high-resolution photograph; nominee’s rank and file at the time of discharge or end of service, as well as military awards, honors, or achievements.  In order to be considered, please submit the forms and related data by April 14th.
