Special Weather Statement issued December 27 at 10:28PM EST by NWS Upton NY A brief period of freezing rain is possible with the onset of rain between 1am and 4am. Temperatures have radiated into the upper 20s to 32 F this evening under clear skies and calm winds. Temperatures are likely to rise just above freezing in most areas by the time of rainfall onset as cloud cover quickly increases. Ground temperatures though, may still linger around freezing in spots through 5am, causing patchy icing of untreated surfaces. Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution traveling tonight, and be alert for patchy black ice, particularly on elevated roadways.

A Milky Ways ice cream shop is being planned for an empty spot in a Hauppauge shopping center, according to plans submitted to the Town of Islip. With spots already in Coram and Huntington, this will be the third location for the shop that blends two favorite treats: cereal and ice cream.

 

According to the store’s Instagram page, they are also planning to open up a fourth store in Rocky Point.

 

The new Hauppauge Milky Ways is proposed for suite 106 at 812 Wheeler Road. According to a real estate listing by RIPCO, the building was constructed in 2018. The space is 1,517 square feet. A number of other tenants in that center have already come and gone, according to reports, including Pita Pit and I Heart Mac & Cheese.
