Written by Chris Boyle  |  21. February 2024

Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter, Councilman Mike McElwee and Town Clerk Linda Vavricka presented South Shore University Hospital and Good Samaritan University Hospital each with checks for $200 to their respective heart health research programs.

The funds were raised through the Town’s annual “Wear Red Day” during the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women initiative designed to increase women’s heart health awareness. Town employees donated $5 to the cause, raising a total of $400 for two local hospitals.

“Employees look forward to participating in Wear Red Day, and similar fundraising events throughout the year. It’s our way of giving back to our community,” said Islip Supervisor, Angie Carpenter.
