Apparently it's not just bagels and pizza that get their authentic taste from New York tap water...it's the hot dogs, too!
Nathan's Famous is running a completely unexpected giveaway by taking New York City's tap water, putting it in cans, and giving it away via a contest so fans of their iconic hot dogs outside of New York State can experience the same great taste as they would on the Coney Island boardwalk...right in the comfort of their own homes!
The Jericho, NY-based company is running a promotion that allows fans to enter for a chance to win a four-pack of the limited-edition cans, which contain "purified water from a municipal source," according to Annabelle Gladfelter, brand manager of Nathan's parent company, Smithfield Foods.
"New York's tap water has been a cornerstone of the state's food culture for generations, and we know that if you want to try boiling your Nathan's Famous the true 100 percent New York way, New York tap water is the best way to make it so that's why we've canned it," Gladfelter said. "With the chillier months making it harder to fire up the grill, Nathan's Famous wanted to give people across the country an authentic way to experience the magic of New York's iconic flavor at home. With New York's Famous Tap Water by Nathan's, fans can build their perfect hot dog and experience a true taste of NY, no matter the weather."
Nathan's began slinging their famous hot dogs in 1916 on Coney Island, and over the years the brand has developed an iconic status and a huge following, representing an authentic taste of New York that few - if any- have been able to replicate or duplicate.
However, Nathan's contest is not open to all 50 U.S. states: eligible states include Virginia, Maryland, Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington, in addition to Washington D.C.
The contest begins at 2:20 p.m. EST on Thursday, February 20, and ends at 2:19 p.m. EST on Friday, February 21.
