Tips for Hosting your Oscar Viewing Party

Written by Debbi Spiegel  |  21. February 2013

There is more than one Super Sunday in February.  Many use it to refer to the Super Bowl, while to others it isThe Academy Awards!  The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is celebrating Oscar's 85 years.

So  your Oscars invitation never arrived in the mail. That's no reason to forego the glamour of the evening. It's easy to host your own telecast bash at home, complete with eats and an atmosphere fit for the stars. Leave your guests speechless by adding an element of the paparazzi to the party by taking pictures of your guests as they arrive. Print out your own Oscar ballots and play fashion critic from your couch.

The Oscars provide a movie motif, so use that to decorate. You can do something as simple as placing fake Oscar statuettes around or serving snacks out of a film canister. Line trays with the Oscar image or pictures from nominated movies.

Since the awards ceremony is long, it's imperative to make your living room as comfortable as possible. Provide floor cushions or drag in soft chairs from other parts of the house if you need additional seating to keep your guests comfy.

Here are some great local resources for your own Oscar viewing party.
