SPCA: Ronkonkoma Woman Kept 40 Dogs, 8 Cats, and Bird in Horrific Home Filled with Garbage, Urine, Feces
Detectives from the Suffolk County SPCA charged a Ronkonkoma woman with multiple animal cruelty charges.
Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA, said that its detectives charged Susan Lombardi, 53, with misdemeanor animal cruelty charges, alleging that Lombardi neglected dogs, cats, and a bird in her care. Detectives from the Suffolk County SPCA responded to investigate claims of poor conditions at the home.
Detectives found uninhabitable conditions for upwards of forty dogs, eight cats, and a bird. Garbage, feces, urine, debris, were discovered strewn about inside the residence. The overwhelming odor of urine, ammonia, rot, putrid smells, and mildew made it difficult for detectives to breathe inside. Flies and fly excrement was noted on walls and ceilings about the residence. Dog cages were discovered with grime, feces, and with matted fur in the cases as well as with empty water bowls.
On Saturday February 15th 2025, Lombardi surrendered to SPCA Detectives at the Suffolk County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct. Lombardi was charged with thirty Agriculture & Markets Law misdemeanors, including Animal Cruelty and Neglect of an impounded animal. She was booked, and released. Lombardi is due in First District Court on March 7, 2025 at 9:00AM.
The Suffolk County SPCA remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all animals in the county. If you witness any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County, please contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722
