Two Arrested After Crashing Vehicle into Center Median at Sagtikos State Parkway, DWAI-Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance

Miguel Fuentes, 37, of the Bronx, was arrested for DWAI-Drugs and was found to be in possession of cocaine. His front seat passenger, Jessica Ocasio, 37, of New York, was also in possession of cocaine and placed under arrest.

Brentwood, NY - February 22, 2017 - On February 21, 2017, at approximately 5:00 pm, troopers from the Brentwood Barracks responded to a report of motor vehicle accident on the southbound Sagtikos State Parkway in the area of exit S2. Investigation at scene revealed that Miguel Fuentes, age 37, of Bronx, NY, was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer and was attempting to enter the southbound Sagtikos State Parkway from the on-ramp at exit S2. While Mr. Fuentes was attempting to enter the parkway, he lost control of the vehicle and struck the center median.

Mr. Fuentes was found to be impaired by drugs, in possession of cocaine, and was subsequently arrested. Mr. Fuentes' front seat passenger, Jessica Ocasio, age 37, of New York, NY, sustained non-life threatening internal injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Southside Hospital for treatment. Further investigation revealed that Ms. Ocasio was also in possession of cocaine and was subsequently arrested.

Mr. Fuentes was charged with DWAI-Drugs (Misd.), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7^th (A Misd.) and Vehicular Assault 2^nd (E Felony). Mr. Fuentes will be arraigned at Suffolk County First District Court on February 22, 2017 at 9:00 am.  Ms. Ocasio was released on Appearance Ticket for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7^th returnable to Suffolk County First District Court.
