Copiague Man Attempted to Bribe State Police During DWI Arrest, Officials Report

NYS Police report the arrest of Johnny Rajkumar of Copaigue, 20, for DWI and Bribery.

Oyster Bay, NY - February 22, 2019 - On Friday, February 22, 2019, at approximately 1:40 a.m., Johnny Rajkumar, age 20, of Copiague was driving westbound on the Southern State Parkway near exit 31 in town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County and was stopped for multiple vehicle and traffic violations. 
 
Further investigation revealed Rajkumar to be intoxicated with a BAC of .18%. 
 
During the investigation, Rajkumar offered the troopers money multiple times if they would let him go in addition to providing the troopers a false name. Rajkumar was arrested and charged with Bribery 3rd degree, Criminal Impersonation 2nd degree and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.  
 
Rajkumar was held for morning arraignment at Nassau County First District Court.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
