Hempstead, NY - February 23, 2017 - In January of 2017, long time Hempstead resident Maxine S. Broderick, Esq. was appointed Hempstead Village Justice and is seeking election to a 4-year term on March 21, 2017.

Judge Broderick, a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Fordham University and Brooklyn Law School, presides over civil and misdemeanor criminal matters under the jurisdiction of the Court.

Judge Broderick is the immediate past president of the Amistad Long Island Black Bar Association, sits on the board of the Nassau County Women's Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association's WE CARE advisory board, and is a 2017 New York State Bar Association Family Law Section Diversity Fellow.

Judge Broderick is actively engaged in her community and provides pro bono representation to victims of domestic violence in connection with The Safe Center.  In addition, Judge Broderick sits on the board of the Hempstead Boys and Girls Club and is an active member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women's Long Island chapter as well as the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce. 

The Honorable Maxine S. Broderick is a lifelong resident of the Village of Hempstead.
