More than 150 people joined Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) at the Elmont Memorial Library on Thursday, Feb. 13 for an in-person assessment grievance workshop presented by the North Bellmore-based Gold Law Firm.

During the workshop - Legislator Solages’ third of the 2025 grievance period – presenter Doug Gold showed taxpayers who disagree with their assessment how to navigate the online grievance process and dispute their assessment. The Gold Law Firm is headed by assessment expert Jeff Gold, a former member of the Nassau County Board of Assessors and a former commissioner of the Assessment Review Commission (ARC).

“The fact that so many people attended our workshop makes it clear that Nassau County taxes are too high and that something must be done to correct our broken and unfair assessment system so that homeowners do not feel compelled to grieve each and every year,” Legislator Solages said. “Thank you to the Elmont Memorial Library for accommodating the overflow crowd, presenter Doug Gold for walking our attendees through the grievance process, and The Gold Law Firm for their commitment to educating the public.”
