Frederick K. Brewington Delivers Powerful Lecture on Social Justice and Civil Rights at Cona Elder Law
In a Black History Month special event, Cona Elder Law was honored to present and host esteemed civil rights attorney Frederick K. Brewington for an impactful lecture on social justice, civil rights, and advocacy. The event took place on Friday, February 21, at 2:00 PM at Cona Elder Law’s headquarters, located at 225 Broadhollow Road, Suite 200, Melville, NY, with attendees participating in person and via Zoom.
Frederick K. Brewington, a distinguished advocate for civil rights, voting rights, police misconduct, employment discrimination, and social justice, captivated the audience with his insights into the ongoing fight for equality and fairness under the law. His extensive experience in litigation and policy reform has made a lasting impact on communities throughout New York and beyond.
“I'm encouraging you to [be] part of changing the environment that we live in, because we change it one person at a time,” said Mr. Brewington during the 90-minute session. “And we make it contagious.. that we treat each other with the human dignity that we're entitled to, no matter who we are, whether or not we're black or white, whether or not we're gay or straight. Whether or not we got red hair or polka dot hair.”
“We were proud to host Frederick K. Brewington for this important discussion,” said Jennifer Cona, Founder and Managing Partner of Cona Elder Law. “His work in advancing civil rights and assisting the underserved and under-represented aligns with our firm’s commitment to serving diverse communities and advocating for justice. We take seriously consciousness raising and community education. Mr. Brewington’s seminar resonated deeply with all in attendance and inspired much discussion as well as plans for action.”
The event drew a disparate audience of professionals, judges, community leaders, clients, lawyers, students, and individuals committed to social justice. Participants engaged in a dynamic Q&A session, reflecting on the challenges in the fight for civil rights.
