On Wednesday, February 26, the Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. will host the first graduation ceremony of the Sheriff’s Student Ambassador Program at Patchogue-Medford High School. Forty students participated in the inaugural program at the school, discussing public safety related topics directly with law enforcement. Additionally, during the event, two participants of the program will receive $500 scholarships from Suffolk Credit Union.
The mission of the program is to meet with a small group of students to facilitate an open dialogue with law enforcement and help the Sheriff get a candid understanding on issues affecting young people. During the program, the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office staff presented on topics relevant to youth in our nation, including cyber bullying, social media safety, vaping and drugs. Sheriff Toulon also hosts the program in Central Islip School District.
