Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that seriously injured a woman in Brentwood early on the morning of Sunday, February 25.
Karla Escoto Zavala was driving a 2010 Honda Civic westbound on Suffolk Avenue when her vehicle struck an eastbound 2017 Freightliner tractor trailer head on at the intersection of Wicks Road at approximately 3:20 a.m.
Escoto Zavala, 21, of Brentwood, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Freightliner, Gurpreet Singh, 24, of Westbury, was not injured.
The Honda was impounded for a safety check and the Freightliner was checked at the scene by Motor Carrier Safety Section officers.
