On Wednesday, February 26, Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr. hosted the first graduation ceremony for the Sheriff’s Student Ambassador Program at Patchogue-Medford High School. Forty-seven students participated in the inaugural program, engaging in discussions on public safety topics directly with law enforcement. Additionally, two participants were awarded $500 scholarships from Suffolk Credit Union in recognition of their dedication to the program.

The program’s mission is to foster open dialogue between law enforcement and students, providing Sheriff Toulon with a candid understanding of issues affecting young people. Throughout the program, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office staff presented on topics relevant to today’s youth, including cyberbullying, social media safety, vaping, and drug use. Sheriff Toulon also runs the program in the Central Islip School District.
