Adorable Adoptables: Meet Candy, Anna Lee, and Link!

Written by Allison Matos  |  02. March 2016

LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

The perfect family dog awaits-meet Candy! Candy is a gorgeous yellow lab mix who is in need of a forever home. Sadly, Candy's owner has become ill and can no longer care for her.  This sweetheart is about 1 year old, knows a few basic commands and is even house trained!  Let’s all work together to give Candy a new “leash” on life! For more information on adopting Candy, please contact Richie Knuth at 631-514-9762.

Anna Lee came to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter when her owner could not be identified. It's a shame considering just how awesome this dog is.  But someone's loss is someone else's treasure, and Anna Lee is just that!  Anna Lee is friendly with people, playful with toys and loves to interact with people. She displayed no issues with people near her food, and already knows some commands including “sit” and “down." Anna Lee needs slow, proper introduction when around other dogs, and although she can be barky at first, she is social once she gets to sniff them! And, Anna Lee even seems friendly with cats!  Anna Lee is a staff favorite at the shelter, but longs for a home of her own. Please call for more information: 516-785-5220 or come visit at: 3320 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh NY 11793.

Also a resident at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, is this super handsome 6 year old Shepherd / Lab mix named Link. Link is one smart cookie as this little genius already knows multiple commands including “sit”, “stay”, and “paw” – both paws actually! Link is social with dogs, but does not like pushy, rambunctious behavior. Link is friendly with people and is quite the playful pooch.  Due to reports of resource guarding in his last home, Link would be best suited in a home with kids 17 and up. Link really needs a savvy, patient and loving family to give him a chance. Please call for more information: 516-785-5220 or come visit Link at: 3320 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh NY 11793.
