West Islip, NY - March 25th, 2016 - Divine Rhythms Dance Studio, in conjunction with The Traveling Vaginas Theater Group and EAC Network, presents a benefit performance of author and activist Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, "The Vagina Monologues" to fight child trafficking.
All proceeds benefit EAC Network’s Safe Harbour program, which protects and cares for youth victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Suffolk County. Studies show that over 50% of human trafficking victims are children. Safe Harbour ensures that victims are treated, protected, and heard.
“The Vagina Monologues” is based on dozens of interviews Ensler conducted with women and addresses women's sexuality and the social stigma surrounding rape and abuse, creating a new conversation about and with women. It is truly one of the most empowering, entertaining and transformative shows you will ever experience!
"The show and the cause are very near to my heart," says Cassandra Huneke, cast member and Special Events Coordinator for EAC Network.
"New York is the fourth top state for human trafficking, which creates a risk to many, but children are particularly vulnerable. Our goal is to foster a deeper understanding of the complex social issues surrounding us all. It's going to be an amazing night."
Tickets go on sale March 1st. A select number of VIP tickets are available which feature preferred seating and a post-performance reception with gourmet organic hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine, raffles and 50/50, and a meet and greet with the cast of the 2016 Vagina Monologues.
The benefit performance takes place Saturday, April 9th from seven to 10pm at Divine Rhythms Dance Studio, 350 Higbie Lane West Islip, New York 11795.
