AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Update - January 18th, 2015 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of defendant Denis Alvarado, 29, of Jackson Street, Hempstead for the above crime.  The defendant is being charged with 6 counts of Burglary 3rd Degree and will be arraigned on Monday, January 19, 2015 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
Williston Park, NY - March 2nd, 2014 - The Third Squad is investigating a Burglary that occurred on Sunday, March 02, 2014 at 7:00 am in Williston Park.
 
According to detectives, a 59 year old female worker had noticed that an unknown person(s) entered the St. Aidan’s Church between 8:45 pm Saturday, March 1, 2014 and 7:00 am Sunday, March 02, 2014 and removed a large screen Samsung television. Third Precinct Police Officers responded to investigate and it was determined that an unknown person(s) did pry open the rear door and removed the television from the alter area. The value is undetermined.
 
Detectives request that anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
