A community is coming together to help a father and son who are recovering from a tragic fire that claimed the life of a young mother in East Setauket last month. The fundraiser called “Donations For Steven and Leo Ortner” is collecting various goods for them.

According to a news report in TBR News, the fire that broke out at a home in East Setauket on February 18 claimed the life of Lisa Ostrowski, Leo’s mother and Steven’s fiancee.

Steven and 10-month old baby Leo both suffered burns in the blaze and have been recovering in Stony Brook University Hospital.

On Facebook, a call went out for donations to help the father and son.

Baby Leo needs:

  • Clothing size 18-24 months
  • Baby wipes
  • Diapers size 5-6 swaddle
  • Baby gates
  • Large bottles
  • Sippy cups
  • Toys (new)
  • It was also shared that his mother loved to read him books and Leo absolutely loves books so books would greatly be appreciated as well

For Steven:

  • Clothing size 2 to 3X shirts
  • Socks
  • Underwear x-large
  • Sweatpants x-large-2X.

Also requested: Anyone having or knowing anyone that has a rental available they will be looking for a 2 to 3 bedroom in the local area close to Stony Brook University in the event that treatment is ongoing.
