Mastic Beach, NY - March 7th, 2016 - Twenty William Floyd High School seniors have been selected for the 2016 New York State Scholarship for Academic Excellence award, a program that provides scholarships of up to $1,500 per year for up to five years of undergraduate study in a State University of New York (SUNY) school. Students were selected based on their grades on certain Regents exams.
Congratulations to the following students for the selection: Shannon Beattie, Tatiana Benjamin, Stephanie Bondietti, Julia Buscarnera, Giselle Castillo, Veronica Cervone, Allison Conn, Skylar Soehl-Gutierrez, Steven Hamblet, Caitlyn Howell, Mya Hutchins, Onyekachi Isiofia, Allison Johntry, Gene-Marcus Kalil, Ricardo Larios, Breandon Murphy, Jasmine Samot, James Shields, Matthew Stoppelli and Emma Van Nieuwenhuizen.
This program provides scholarship assistance to outstanding New York State high school graduates.
Each year, 8,000 scholarships are awarded - up to 2,000 scholarships of $1,500 and 6,000 scholarships of $500 to top scholars from New York State high schools. Selection for this award does not mean that a student has decided to attend a SUNY school.
