AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

Join us for our fund and charitable Chinese Auction/Dinner fundraiser to help Kara Hirsch, a local student battling bone cancer.

Long Island, NY - March 10th, 2013 - In early January of this year, Kara Hirsch, a 19-year-old Patchogue-Medford High School Alum, was diagnosed with Metastasized Ewing Sarcoma. At the time of her diagnosis, Kara was a full time student at St. Joseph's College and she carried a 4.0 GPA. She was also working 30 hours a week at KinderCare and was loved by the staff and the children she cared for. Kara is currently undergoing a grueling chemotherapy routine that will last more than a year. She will also have to undergo various surgeries and radiation treatments. Kara is an extremely motivated young lady and her strength and perseverance is inspiring to all who know her.
Karing for Kara’s spokesperson, Robin Clauberg, today announced the Foundation will host Karing for Kara, a fundraising Chinese Auction/Dinner on Sunday, April 14th from 2:00 PM to 6 PM at The Mediterranean Manor located at 303 E Main Street Patchogue, NY 11772. Cost is 60.00 per person. Proceeds will be used to help Kara and her family through this difficult time.
The event will feature a sit down dinner, Chinese Auction, Door prize raffle and live entertainment from local musicians. Karing for Kara is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to help ease the burden of this hardworking, courageous young lady during her struggle with cancer.
