Homicide Squad Reports Second Arrest Made in Connection with Brutal Hempstead Murder by Gunfire

The Homicide Squad reports that an arrest has been made in connection with a Homicide that originally occurred on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 12:22 PM in Hempstead. 
 
According to Detectives, Hempstead Police responded to the intersection of West Graham Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard for the report of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, Officers located Jefferson J. Mancia-Fernandez of Hempstead, 19, who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds and administered medical aid. Mancia-Fernandez was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced by a physician.
 
On Monday, March 3, 2025, Defendant Jeremias Ferrufino-Rodriguez, 18 of 190 West Marshall Street was placed under arrest for the above incident and was charged with Murder 2nd degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree. He was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead. 
 
Then, on Monday, March 10, 2025, Defendant Brayan Pineda, 20, of 1380 A Street, Elmont, was placed under arrest in connection with the above incident and is charged with Hindering Prosecution 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
