When Jerry Seinfeld conceived of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, “a web experiment that became a television show,” as he described it, he was - as usual - on to something. Did he invent the concept of funny bits on the web? No. Is he good at it? Yes. Arguably Long Island's most successful comedian, our place in history as a comedy mecca was established long before the invention of the world wide web, or social media.
But, here we are. And some of the funniest comedy can be found by scrolling your favorite social media channel, whether it’s YouTube, TikTok, Facebook or Instagram. Below we present some of our favorite Long Island comedians who are absolutely killing it on social media. Do you have a favorite we forgot to add? Let us know in the comments. We can always use a good laugh.
tank.sinatra - The self-proclaimed “Michael Jordan of memes,” puts up daily funnies on Instagram and hosts a podcast called Meme Daddies where he talks about, what else, memes.
Chris Roach - Whether its his hilarious shorts on Instagram or his music video “Ronkonkomo” (a trip on the LIRR set to the tune of the Beach Boys’ “Kokomo”), Roach has been a mainstay of social media comedy for longer than he cares to admit. Follow him everywhere!
mmmjoemele - Joe Mele uses his dad and his girlfriend in his hysterical Instagram Reels to full effect - with one bit highlighting the difference between his dad’s Long Island accent and his girlfriend’s way of pronouncing everyday words.
Longislandwiseguy - Know how it feels when the bagel store runs out of everything bagels? This guy gets it.
longislandmemess - A place on Instagram where all the LI memes go to live (or die, depending).
Rose Kelso - She once described Long Island as less like a melting pot and more like “loud chaos.” We kinda agree. Raunchy, biting and funny, Kelso can be found on Insta and TikTok as longislanddirt_
