Legislator McCaffrey Participates in Shed the Meds Event
“Shed the Meds” events have become a staple in many communities over the years, being sponsored by local civic groups, governmental organizations, and elected officials. Thepurpose of the effort is to ensure that prescription medications do not fall into the wrong hands when they are no longer needed. These events provide a safe and accessible venue, along with police personnel, to facilitate this crucially important undertaking.
“Almost everybody at some point or another has unused prescription medications in their homes,” said McCaffrey. “While most of us know how to responsibly store these medications, the proper way to dispose of them is not always clear. Efforts like the one here today help to relieve us of those concerns.”
Both the Village of Lindenhurst and Lindy Cares have been extremely proactive in the fight against the scourge of drug abuse. Due to the scope of the problem, an active alliance between civic organizations, elected officials, schools, and everyday citizens is more essential now than ever before.
“I really must commend Lindy Cares and the Village of Lindenhurst,” said McCaffrey. “Their teamwork truly serves as a model for communities wishing to effectuate positive change.”
