Late Sunday night Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that New York City restaurants and bars will only provide takeout or delivery service as NYC attempts to get ahead of the coronavirus pandemic.

The restrictions will begin Tuesday morning, Match 17th, at 9am.

“Our lives are all changing in ways that were unimaginable just a week ago,” de Blasio said in a statement released by City Hall, which acknowledged the step was “drastic.”

“We are taking a series of actions that we never would have taken otherwise in an effort to save the lives of loves ones and our neighbors.”

In addition, Mayor de Blasio has ordered nightclubs, movie theaters convert venues and playhouses to close down too.
