FAA: Wing of Delta Airlines Plane Strikes LaGuardia Airport Runway During Landing

Written by Chris Boyle  |  18. March 2025

The wing of a Delta Airlines plane made contact with the runway while it was coming in for a landing at Queens' LaGuardia Airport, according to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials.

The incident, involving a CRJ-900 aircraft coming from Jacksonville, Florida, took place on Sunday, March 16 at approximately 10 p.m. As left wing of the aircraft hit the runway while making a final descent, the pilots aborted the lending attempt and instead increased their altitude. The pilots then preformed a "go-around" and were successful in their second landing attempt.

No injuries were reported among the flight's 80 passengers and crew members. The plane is expected to remain grounded while the FAA is investigating the incident.
