Spring was bursting out all over at The Lannin in Eisenhower Park on Long Island on Monday, one day before the official start of spring, as landscapers planted more than 1,750 pansies – purple, yellow, red and orange Jewel Mix variety – flowers typically signifying the start of spring.
The flowers were delivered from Emma’s Garden Growers in Melville and installed by Daniel Greller and Terra Verde Landscape Architecture& Design, P.C. in Syosset. They were planted around the two massive fountains at The Lannin, around the entryway and along the edges of the garden patio where weddings can be held.
“We did a whole blend of colors, yellow, orange, purple, blue,” said Greller. “It just brings you back to life. It’s hopeful, it’s spring. The winter is behind us, and we’ve got this great season upon us.”
The Lannin is one of a trio of new hospitality venues in Eisenhower Park – right across from the new cricket stadium that is currently under construction – and includes The Lannin, a wedding, banquet and event facility; The Union, an upscale American-style restaurant; and The General, a members-only cigar club and steakhouse. All three properties are operated by Trahanas Hospitality Group.
Pansies have been cultivated around the world and more than 400 types are known to exist.
