The Public Information Office reports the arrest of an East Patchogue man for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law) on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 12:13 a.m. in Freeport.
According to Police, Freeport Officers within the Special Enforcement Team observed a black 2007 Honda commit multiple vehicle and traffic law infractions while traveling on Parsons Avenue. Freeport Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle Traffic Law (VTL) stop near the intersection of Lakeview Avenue.
The operator of the vehicle, defendant Envey Garcia Zambrano, 29, of 94 Hedges Avenue, had glassy eyes, slurred speech, and had an odor of alcohol emanating from his breathe. A Standard Field Sobriety Test was conducted resulting in positive results and Defendant Garcia Zambrano was placed under arrest without incident. No injuries reported at scene. The vehicles 1-year-old male passenger was safely released into the custody of a family member who was also a passenger in the vehicle.
Defendant Envey Garcia Zambrano is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child Under 16) under Leandra’s Law, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions. He will be arraigned on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
