History: 1913 Traffic Jam in Blue Point
Seems like traffic is nothing new as this historical picture shows.
As per the description in the archives, a Suffolk Traction Company trolley car number 2 makes its way under the overpass, seemingly impeded by a group of young girls on foot and a number of horse-drawn vehicles. Identified as the Long Island Rail Road's "Sayville" branch, the overpass is probably what is now the Montauk line.
The photo was taken on May 2, 1913 by William J. Rugen in Blue Point.
