NCPD: Massapequa Park Man Victim of Elder Scam After Caller Falsely Tells Him Daughter Arrested
The Major Case Bureau reports the details of a Grand Larceny/Elder Scam that occurred on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 12:05 pm in Massapequa Park.
According to Detectives, an 81-year-old male victim received a phone call from a female claiming to be his daughter and that she had been arrested. An unknown male subject then got on the phone and told the victim he would have to provide money for his daughter’s release. The victim left the money in his mailbox and an unknown subject removed the money and fled the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Nassau County Police Department urges the community to be on alert and to remind vulnerable family members, friends, and neighbors about potential scams or frauds.
