Multiple Long Island Towns Ranked Among the Best in Nation for Raising a Family

Kensington in Nassau County ranked number two in the country in the Niche report.

Niche’s 2025 rankings of the best towns in the United States to raise a family are out, and eight on Long Island are included in the report's top 100 - out of the total of 18,084 ranked - with one impressively placing as high as number two in the entire nation. 
 
Kensington, an affluent neighborhood located on Manhasset Bay along Nassau County's Gold Coast, took the runner-up honors among the 18,084 towns ranked by Niche, behind only the Philadelphia suburb of Chesterbrook; it achieved this placing due to it's safety and excellent school system, among other factors.
 
Next up was Syosset at number 11, followed by Jericho at 21, East Williston at 30, Manhasset at 39, Muttontown at 51, Plainview at 68, Roslyn Heights at 73, Garden City at 75, Lake Success at 94 and Searingtown at 99.
 
The only Long Island neighborhood in Suffolk County that placed at all -  Dix Hills - came in at 135. Furthr down the list was Merrick at 512, Wantagh at 982, Upper Brookville at 1,575, Farmingdale at 2,407, and Massapequa at 3,087.
