Largest Gathering of Vietnam Veterans in Suffolk History Come Together for ‘Welcome Home’ Celebration

Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine and the Suffolk County Veterans Services Agency will host an event on Saturday, March 29 at the H. Lee Dennison Building to mark the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Hundreds of veterans and their families, veteran’s groups and local and state officials are expected to attend.

The event will serve as a ‘welcome home’ celebration for local Vietnam veterans who were treated unfavorably upon their return home from service. March 29 is nationally observed as National Vietnam Veterans Day that recognizes the sacrifices made by millions of Americans during the Vietnam War.

VISUALS:

A temporary museum showcasing artifacts from the Vietnam era will open to the attendees until April 4. Vietnam era machinery and artillery provided by the Museum of American Armor will be on display during the ceremony.
