For nearly two decades, Dolores Persky has turned her personal battle with metastatic breast cancer into quite a powerful mission─advocating, connecting, and providing support for those facing similar journeys.
Now, she is taking her message to a national stage as the only non-medical professional speaking at the 2025 Cancer Research & Vaccine Summit at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Boston Waltham in Waltham, Mass. Persky’s presentation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 4:45-5:15pm.
First diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, Persky’s cancer progressed to a metastatic stage two years later, and she has since dedicated her life to fostering a community of solidarity, education, and empowerment for those individuals affected by cancer.
A longtime ambassador and participant of Sid Jacobson JCC’s Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center, Persky plays a vital role as a Peer Partner, support group facilitator, and a member of NMCWC’s Advisory Board.
Persky’s efforts have significantly amplified the reach of our Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center, sharing its mission through prominent appearances on The Donna Drake Show and local radio segments. She has also collaborated with New York State Senator Steven Rhoades to expand awareness of the Center’s free, comprehensive wellness services for those impacted by cancer and their families.
“Dolores is the embodiment of resilience and advocacy,” said Randy Hight, LCSW, Director of SJJCC’s Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center. “She is the only layperson speaking at the summit, sharing her metastatic journey and her unwavering support for other cancer survivors. Despite often not feeling her best, Dee has dedicated herself to making sure no one faces cancer alone. We are so proud of all she has accomplished and continues to do.”
“My work is driven by the belief that knowledge is power and that support is the key to navigating the challenges of living with cancer,” Persky reflected. “I want to ensure that those who need resources, guidance, and community know exactly where to turn.”
