Suffolk County Resident Fatally Struck by Long Island Rail Road Train, Police Say
According to the the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department, a Suffolk County resident has been fatally struck by a Long Island Rail Road train near the Hicksville Station at approximately 11 p.m. on Friday, March 24.
Tyshawn R. Hunter of Port Jefferson Station, 22, was hit by a train while allegedly in an area west of the Hicksville station that was off-limits to members of the general public.
Service between the Mineola and Hicksville LIRR stations suspended while officials conducted an investigation into the incident; service has since been restored, but the investigation is still ongoing, MTA officials say.
