AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EDT THURSDAY NIGHT The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Thursday night. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Fine Particulates. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. NCPD reports the arrest of Earl Thomas of Baldwin, 51, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Baldwin, NY - March 28, 2018 - The First Squad reports the arrest of a Baldwin man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 1:00 am in Baldwin.
 
According to detectives, Nassau County Police were notified of a Snapchat video of a juvenile brandishing a silver and black semi-automatic handgun. An investigation led to the arrest of defendant Earl Thomas, 51, of Baldwin on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 3:20 am.
 
Detectives recovered inside the home, a .25 caliber handgun, a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun (which was used in the Snapchat video) and a collapsible Kel-Tec, sub-2000- 9mm assault weapon. Two (2) juveniles’ ages 14 and 15 responsible for the video chat were arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm. They were released on a Nassau County Desk Appearance Ticket returnable to Nassau County Family Court, Westbury and will appear at a later date. 
 
Defendant Thomas is being charged with 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
