Baldwin, NY - March 28, 2018 - The First Squad reports the arrest of a Baldwin man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 1:00 am in Baldwin.
According to detectives, Nassau County Police were notified of a Snapchat video of a juvenile brandishing a silver and black semi-automatic handgun. An investigation led to the arrest of defendant Earl Thomas, 51, of Baldwin on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 3:20 am.
Detectives recovered inside the home, a .25 caliber handgun, a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun (which was used in the Snapchat video) and a collapsible Kel-Tec, sub-2000- 9mm assault weapon. Two (2) juveniles’ ages 14 and 15 responsible for the video chat were arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm. They were released on a Nassau County Desk Appearance Ticket returnable to Nassau County Family Court, Westbury and will appear at a later date.
Defendant Thomas is being charged with 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
