Brookhaven Receives $20 Mil Grant for Tri-Hamlet Sewer Expansion, $8 Mil for Forge River Sewer Project
Recently, Supervisor Ed Romaine and Councilman Dan Panico joined Suffolk County officials at a press conference to announce $28 million in new funding for additional sewer expansion in the Tri-Hamlet community.
The grants are funded by the Suffolk County Water Infrastructure Fund. It includes $20 million for design and construction of the sewer infrastructure for the Mastic Beach downtown business district and $8 million to fund the design of phases 3 and 4 of the Forge River sewer project which is currently under construction.
Supervisor Romaine said, “The sewer expansion is vital to the economic and environmental future of Mastic, Mastic Beach, Shirley and the Forge River. Thanks to Councilman Panico and the County, the Tri-Hamlet residents and business owners can be confident that a brighter future is ahead for their community.”
Councilman Panico said, “The Mastic Beach residents and business owners have been counting on the sewer expansion to improve their quality of life. I commend the County Executive Bellone and the County Legislature, especially Legislator Mazzarella, for their diligence and determination to bring this major project to the forefront and making it a reality.”
