Oceanside, NY - March 29, 2018 - The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of an Oceanside man for Assault that occurred on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 1:05 p.m. in Oceanside.
According to detectives, two off-duty NYPD Police Officers observed an unknown male climbing a fenced-off residence on Anchor Avenue. After climbing the fence, the subject was observed entering the residence. Officers called 911 and approached the property.
While waiting for police to arrive, the subject exited the house with a knife on his hip, pushed past the officers and entered his 2007 Nissan Sentra. The vehicle was occupied by an adult female and a child. The subject sped away, striking both officers with his car, causing injuries. Both officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A subsequent investigation was conducted and led to the arrest of Nicholas Ulip, 24.
Defendant Ulip is charged with six (6) counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Trespass 1st Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at First District Court, 99 Main St., Hempstead.
