Islip, NY - March 29, 2018 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a man for selling vaping products including e-nicotine to a person under the age of 21 years-old at a business in Islip.
In response to community complaints, Third Precinct Crime Section officers, with the assistance of the Islip Town Fire Marshal, conducted an investigation into the sale of e-liquid nicotine. Four locations were checked for compliance.
Richard Scheffler, 26, of Calverton, employed at Vintage Vapors 568 Main Street, was arrested and charged with violating the Suffolk County Code regulating the sale of E-Cigarettes, which included liquid e-nicotine:
The following business complied, and refused the sale of e-liquid nicotine to minors:
- House of Glass, 777 Udall Road, West Islip
- Vape Xscape, 116 West Main Street, Bay Shore
- Shamrock Gas Station, 645 East Main Street, Bay Shore
Scheffler is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
